In early April, a Mecklenburg NC state representative announced she was switching her party to Republican, despite being elected to represent a 60% Democratic district. Her actions gave Republicans the supermajority they needed to override Dem Governor Roy Cooper’s veto, essential to protecting reproductive rights, voting rights, and more in NC. This move will severely impact the 2024 elections.
Now—more than ever—Democrats must organize across all legislative districts, contest every race, and build relationships with North Carolinians.
