It’s election season again, and the stakes are HIGH.
From defeating MAGA Republicans to fighting for abortion rights to securing a livable climate, it’s more crucial than ever for young people to turn out in force for the midterms.
WHAT’S AT STAKE Historically, the party in the White House loses seats in Congress during a midterm year. But 2022 is looking different – since the Supreme Court slashed abortion access and as more Americans come to understand the growing threats to our democracy, Democrats have a real chance at holding the Senate (and even a possibility of holding the House). It all comes down to who will turn out to vote.
ABOUT THE PROJECT During the 2020 election, several groups experimented with using dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge to engage potential voters and persuade them to vote. Many have seen this to be significantly more effective than traditional GOTV efforts (phone calling, texting, door knocking). This year we’ll be focusing on two crucial states with key Senate and Gubernatorial races – Wisconsin and Arizona.
WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR? • Young people (no strict age limit but approx 18-35 years old) who want to make an impact on the midterm elections but are tired of phone banking and texting, and want to try something new and exciting. • Folks who can learn quickly and can get into meaningful conversations with people about their lives and what matters to them, and pivot back to how voting connects to those issues.
THE TRAINING WILL COVER: • Why and how to use dating apps to get out the vote • How to engage with AZ & WI voters in a respectful and effective way • How to set up your profile and have effective conversations to get out the vote on dating apps!
We’ll walk you through it every step of the way. Join us for a virtual training and swipe out the vote party to help win these key races!
