Elissa Slotkin for Michigan 08 House District

Michigan House District 8 for Elissa Slotkin

In 2018, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin defeated an incumbent Republican by 3.8 points to represent Michigan’s 8th District. In 2020, she won by 3.6 points. The terrorist attacks on New York City, where Slotkin was living as a graduate student, inspired Slotkin to pursue a public service career. The CIA recruited her as a Middle East analyst; she worked alongside the U.S. military during three tours in Iraq as a militia expert. Slotkin held various defense and intelligence positions under Presidents Bush and Obama and served at the Pentagon as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. As a member of Congress, she has directed her energy on reforming the healthcare system; strengthening Michigan’s middle class; and bringing integrity back to politics. The National Republican Congressional Committee has focused on Slotkin and 10 others as vulnerable candidates in the 2022 midterms.
