Abigail Spanberger for VA 07 House District
Holding VA 7 House seat held by Abigail Spanberger
In 2018, Abigail Spanberger defeated incumbent David Brat (R) by 2 points, becoming the first Democratic representative of the district since 1971. In Congress, Spanberger serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and House Agriculture Committee; her top priorities include strengthening national security, fighting to lower prescription drug prices, protecting access to healthcare, and expanding broadband internet access. Prior to being elected, Spanberger was a federal law enforcement officer working narcotics and money laundering cases with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Later, she joined the CIA as a case officer, traveling and living abroad, collecting intelligence, managing assets, and overseeing high-profile programs. Spanberger has been on the GOP radar since her first election. Four Republicans already have filed to run in the district including Taylor Kenney, a communications staffer of former VA Gov. Bob McDonnell; Tina Ramirez, who helped start and direct the Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus.
