Catherine Cortez-Masto for Nevada
Holding NV Senate seat held by Carolyn Cortez-Masto
The first Latina elected to the U.S. Senate, Catherine Cortez Masto won the seat left vacant by retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D. in 2016. But the election was close. She won by only 2.4 votes, which has Republicans eying an upset in Nevada. Cortez Masto focuses on providing better access to health care, immigration reform, and helping her state recover from the pandemic-triggered recession. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Masto was the state attorney general from 2007 to 2015. She lives in Las Vegas with her husband Paul, a retired Secret Service agent.
