Kirsten Engel

Arizona, Congress (AZ-06)

Background

Kirsten Engel, running for Congress in Arizona’s 6th district, is an accomplished environmental attorney and former Arizona state legislator with a deep commitment to public service. With degrees from Brown University and Northwestern University School of Law, Engel began her career at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where she fought for environmental protection and public health.

Driven by her passion for education and community advocacy, Engel ran for the Arizona State House, where she successfully fought to restore funding to public schools, protect natural resources, and promote community safety. Her legislative work focused on fully funding education, expanding access to affordable community colleges, and advancing clean energy initiatives.

On the Issues

Kirsten Engel is running to continue her fight for Arizona families. She is determined to make healthcare more affordable, reduce prescription drug costs, and expand access to mental health services. A strong advocate for reproductive rights, Engel is committed to restoring Roe v. Wade as federal law.

In Congress, Engel will prioritize addressing Arizona’s water crisis by promoting smart water policies and advancing clean energy initiatives that create jobs and lower utility bills. She also supports common-sense gun safety measures, including universal background checks and a ban on assault weapons.

Along with her husband, Scott Saleska, a climate scientist, Engel has made Tucson her home. They enjoy exploring Arizona’s hiking trails. Their daughter, Helene, has recently started college. Engel’s proven leadership and dedication to Arizona’s values make her a strong candidate to represent the Sixth Congressional District.
