Wisconsin, Congress (WI-03)

Background

Rebecca Cooke is running for Congress in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District to bring her community-focused leadership to Washington. Born and raised on a dairy farm in Eau Claire, Cooke embodies the values of hard work, service, and community that have been passed down through generations of her family. From a young age, Rebecca worked on her family’s farm and became active in 4-H, where she developed a passion for community involvement.

At the University of St. Thomas, she worked multiple jobs to support herself while engaging in social justice initiatives. After college, she worked on Democratic campaigns across the country before returning to Eau Claire to start her own business, Red’s Mercantile. Her business focused on supporting local artisans and small businesses, which inspired her to found the Red Letter Grant in 2016. This nonprofit organization empowers female entrepreneurs by providing startup capital and resources, leading to the launch of 23 women-owned businesses in western Wisconsin.

Her leadership and advocacy caught the attention of Governor Tony Evers, who appointed her to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, where she served as the youngest member of the board and co-chair of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation committee.
