Matt Cartwright has served as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District since 2018, having first been elected to the state's 17th district in 2012. Pennsylvania 08 is one of seven districts that voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election while being held by a Democrat, which makes the seat vulnerable. Cartwright is a Democrat who works across the aisle and has served on the powerful House Committee on Appropriations since 2017. Since taking office in Congress, Cartwright has introduced more legislation supported by both Democrats and Republicans than any other House Democrat.
