Susie Lee first won election in Nevada’s 3rd District in 2018, besting her Republican opponent in an open seat race by 9.1 points. In 2020, when she was running against a former professional wrestler, her margin of victory waned to 3 points. Currently, the 3rd district is viewed as the state’s most competitive House district. Donald Trump won the district in 2016, while Biden narrowly won in 2020. Lee remains unfazed. “Right now, Nevadans need vaccines and jobs, so that’s what I’m focused on,” she said. “Southern Nevada voters have repeatedly rejected the far-right, out-of-touch candidates peddled by D.C. Republicans.” Lee earned a master’s degree in public management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, graduating with honors. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1993, where she worked as a campaign policy advisor to Las Vegas Mayor Jan Laverty Jones and founded a homeless shelter for parents and children in need.
