Wave of the Week-Archived-8-11

Each week, Together for 2020 offers you an action, an event and a candidate to explore —
Three ways to get involved in shaping the upcoming elections. Become part of the Blue Wave!

EVENT TO DIVE INTO

Action Hour Virtual Café
Together Again!

We’ve all adapted to working virtually to save democracy, but miss the camaraderie of getting together for power hours, phone-bank parties, and postcard-writing extravaganzas to boost voter turnout.

The Action Hour Virtual Café is the answer. Hosted by Indivisible-RISE Newburyport and open to everybody, the Action Hour Virtual Café lets you chat with others while contacting voters in your own style:

  • Texting
  • Postcard writing
  • Phone banking

Start with the whole group, then choose your own breakout room on Zoom. Training is available, and both new and experienced folks are welcome. Curious about how it works? Join us!

Details can be found here. Registration is preferred, but not required. And you can find other group activities here.

MAKE WAVES

Ride the Blue Wave
To North Carolina

North Carolina is one of the most super of super states this election. Every vote has triple power – for president, for the U.S. Senate, for the fight against gerrymandering.

In 2016, Trump won North Carolina by only 4%, and Biden is a strong contender to capture the state’s 15 electoral college votes. The unpopular incumbent Thom Tillis was branded by The Atlantic magazine as one of “Trump’s Useful Idiots.” But many voters don’t know Democratic candidate Cal Cunningham. That needs to change.

The North Carolina Phone Bank Action has Massachusetts-based phone call events weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. We have already made 10,000 calls, but need to make more. Find one that suits your schedule and spend some of your valuable time effectively, capturing electoral votes and turning North Carolina blue.

LIFT ALL BOATS

Help Theresa Greenfield Turn Iowa Blue

Sunday, August 9
7:30–8:30 p.m. ET

Iowa Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield is neck-and-neck with incumbent Republican Senator Joni Ernst. Join a virtual meet-and-greet August 9 to learn about what Iowans care about, and become part of the wave that will carry Greenfield to victory.

Greenfield, who tops Emily’s List as a priority candidate, is eager to work on bringing affordable healthcare to the public, and public education, community colleges, and job-training programs are among her priorities.

Ernst, a Trump puppet, is disliked in Iowa, and voters there are highly motivated to replace her.

Your support is especially meaningful to Greenfield, who is not accepting any PAC money.

Learn about the candidate here.
