With nearly 40 years of experience in law and public service, Carl Marlinga, candidate for MI-10 House, has dedicated his career to fighting for justice and advocating for his community. He has served as the Macomb County Prosecutor, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and most recently, as a judge on the 16th Judicial Circuit Court and Probate Court.
Marlinga’s commitment to his community is deeply rooted, and his career is marked by significant achievements in promoting justice, equality, and economic growth. He made history as the first Macomb County prosecutor to hire African American assistant prosecutors; he also significantly increased opportunities for women in the prosecutor’s office, raising their representation from 7% in 1984 to over 50% by 2004. Marlinga has championed seniors, helping them recover millions lost to unscrupulous individuals, and he led efforts to crack down on white-collar crime.
A founding board member of Care House, Marlinga has been a staunch advocate for victims of criminal sexual conduct, establishing the Macomb Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (S.A.N.E.) program to provide prompt examination and support services.
