Chris Deluzio

Pennsylvania, Congress (PA-17)

Background

War veteran and civil rights attorney Chris Deluzio is serving his first term in Congress, representing PA-17.

Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Deluzio attended the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned a degree in political science. After serving as a Naval officer posted in the Middle East and Africa, Deluzio attended Georgetown University Law Center and graduated magna cum laude. He worked as a lawyer at the Brennan Center for Justice on the Voting Rights and Election Security teams and later worked at Pitt Cyber, where he focused on voting rights, election security, and the intersection of technology and civil rights.

In 2022, Deluzio won the open seat in Pennsylvania's 17th district by nearly 7 % of the vote. This year, Deluzio faces a Republican state legislator who is trying to conceal his former support for Trump and downplay his vote supporting a total abortion ban in the state.

Since arriving in Congress, Deluzio has been a strong advocate for western Pennsylvania and its people. As a member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, he has pushed for policies to expand access to healthcare and mental health services for veterans as well as investing in job training and education programs.

On the Issues

As a member of the House Committee on House Administration, Deluzio has been a leading voice on issues related to election security and voting rights. He has pressed for policies to modernize and secure America's election infrastructure, combat disinformation and foreign interference, and protect the right to vote for all Americans.

Deluzio also supports the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would bar government interference in abortion decisions and bring back the protections of Roe v. Wade.

In Congress, Deluzio has been known for his accessibility and his willingness to listen to the concerns of all members of his community.
