Super Volunteer Ron Blau

Together We Elect celebrates the outstanding work of our volunteers and allies who have gone above and beyond in the work to elect Democrats to Congress.

“I consider my work with Together under the rubric of climate work,” Ron said. “The best thing we can do to address climate change is to try to ensure a good outcome in the elections.”

An abiding interest in working on environmental issues led Ron Blau to volunteer with Together We Elect. We are fortunate that it did.

Ron is one of the many faithful V2V (Volunteer to Volunteer) callers who spend hours each week making friendly phone calls to past volunteers who may want to become active again. He also has stepped up to write for the Together website.

“I consider my work with Together under the rubric of climate work,” Ron said. “The best thing we can do to address climate change is to try to ensure a good outcome in the elections.”

He pointed to the work of Bill McKibben, founder of Third Act, an organization of people who working to create a fairer, more sustainable society and planet. “Bill McKibben sees climate change and democracy as intertwined,” Ron said.

Ron’s work with Together We Elect is a way for him to effect positive changes. “I recognize that these midterms are crucially important, and you do what you can do.”

What Ron has done for Together has won the admiration of many.

Gari Palmer, who leads the V2V project, said, “Ron steps up to the plate when democracy is at stake. His can-do attitude, his persistence, and his attention to detail are a winning combination for his Volunteer to Volunteer calling and all his other activist endeavors. We are lucky to have him on our team!”

Ron’s skills as a writer also have made their mark at Together. Semi-retired now, Ron worked producing, editing, and writing scripts for various outlets, including public television station WGBH in Boston. For WGBH, he edited episodes of “Nova,” a nationally televised program that focused on science and human ingenuity.

Ron said he would encourage others to spend some time as a volunteer. “Just sign up and let your contact with Together We Elect take you to do whatever you can,” he said.
