Susan Wild for PA 07 House District

Holding PA 07 House seat held by Susan Wild

Incumbent U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) cruised to victory in the May 17 primary. This fall, she will face a Republican who is a lifetime member of the NRA.

No two candidates could be less alike. Wild earned the endorsement of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in her second campaign. “In her first term, Susan Wild followed through on vow to take action on gun violence prevention, helping to pass the most robust gun safety agenda in decades,”

Wild’s opponent, Republican Lisa Scheller, has been endorsed by a member of the national board of the NRA and the NRA Victory Fund.

In a town hall meeting with constituents hours after 21 were killed in Uvalde, Texas, Wild said, “Ordinarily I would suggest that we have a moment of silence, but it seems like we’ve been doing a lot of moments of silence in this country for a while now.” Scheller didn’t acknowledge the Uvalde massacre on her Facebook or Instagram pages. One Twitter, she offered (no thoughts, just) prayers for the families and community.

Wild supports passage of federal legislation codifying a woman’s right to abortion. Scheller, at an April primary debate, said she supports “criminalizing abortion when there is a detectable fetal heartbeat,” even in cases of rape and incest.

Wild first won her seat in won the regular election and special election on Nov. 6, 2018. She filled the remainder of Rep. Charlie Dent's (R) term in the 15th Congressional District. Prior to joining Congress, Wild was the solicitor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, from 2015 to 2017. She was also a partner with the firm Gross McGinley specializing in litigation, medical malpractice, and municipal law. Wild is the first woman to represent the Lehigh Valley in Congress.
